An ordinary web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox) on a Windows PC or a Mac, and either an HDMI cable or the ability to cast a browser tab to your TV. The Show streams on the night, so you’ll want decent wifi in the room you’re hosting in — and it isn’t built for phones or tablets, or for a games console or smart-TV browser. No wifi where you’re hosting? Host from the printed guide instead; the mystery plays in full either way.

No — it’s included, and it’s optional. If you’d rather not set up a screen, the printed host guide runs the whole night on its own: the Inspector’s speeches are printed word for word, with suggested timings for each act and the reveal speech at the end. The mystery solves identically either way.

You host, but you don’t narrate. There’s no dedicated host role to sit out as — you play a character too. The Show does the narrating and keeps time, and it handles the clue cards: depending on the game it either puts each one on screen at the moment it’s earned, or tells you exactly when to deal it.

Tell The Show how many are coming and it adapts. The murderer is always one of the six core characters, so the mystery solves properly at any size — no reshuffling, no rewriting, no “just pretend this character isn’t here”. Two extra insert cards cover the evidence the missing guests would have brought.

It is genuinely solvable. Every clue either implicates or exonerates — nothing is a dead end. A guest who pays attention and trades information can actually work out who did it, but only by prising loose what the others are hiding.

About two hours, mapped to the courses of your dinner: drinks and the body found, the starter and Act I, the main and Act II, then dessert, the accusations, the vote and the reveal.

Costumes are optional, and the invitations suggest them.
